At JICABLE’27, we are taking practical steps to reduce the environmental impact of the conference. From travel and catering to event materials and exhibition practices, we are focusing on actions that can make a difference while preserving the quality of the JICABLE experience. 
And everyone can play a part.

TRAVEL SMARTER

Travel is one of the key areas where we can make a difference. 

We will provide practical information to help participants reach Lyon and the Congress Centre using rail and public transport whenever these are suitable options. 

 You can make a difference: 

  • Choose the train when it is a practical alternative 
  •  Use public transport to get around Lyon
  • Walk to the Congress Centre whenever possible
  • Share a ride when public transport is not an option 

When registering, we will also invite you to share your main mode of transport and departure point. This will help us better understand the carbon footprint of JICABLE’27. 

USE RESOURCES WISELY

We are working to reduce unnecessary production and make better use of the resources already available. 

The JICABLE’27 mobile app will be the main source of programme and practical information, complemented by a concise printed guide. We will also favour reusable solutions for event materials whenever possible.

You can make a difference:
  • Use the JICABLE’27 app rather than printing your programme
  • Return your badge holder at the end of the conference
  • Follow the recycling guidance available onsite
  • Refill your JICABLE’27 water bottle at the water stations provided throughout the conference  

ENJOY FOOD, REDUCE WASTE

We will work with our catering partners to offer seasonal products and attractive vegetarian choices, while adjusting quantities as closely as possible to actual attendance. 

You can make a difference: 
  • Try the vegetarian option 
  • Confirm the meals you plan to attend 
  • Let us know if your plans change 
  • Take what you need and come back for more during coffee breaks

 Good food is even better when less goes to waste!

EXHIBIT RESPONSIBLY

Our exhibitors are an important part of the JICABLE community and of our environmental approach. 

Practical recommendations will be included in the Exhibitor Technical Guide, focusing on solutions that can be easily integrated into the preparation of each stand.

A few ideas for your stand: 

  • Reuse existing stand elements whenever possible
  • Rent furniture and equipment locally
  • Make product information available digitally
  • Choose fewer, useful and durable promotional items
  • Reduce packaging and consolidate deliveries
  • Follow the onsite recycling guidance  

WORKING WITH OUR PARTNERS

Our environmental approach also extends to the suppliers and partners involved in delivering JICABLE’27. 

Where relevant, we will consider environmental criteria alongside quality, cost and operational requirements when selecting solutions and suppliers. We will encourage practical approaches such as reuse, optimised logistics, responsible sourcing and reduced waste.

MEASURE TO IMPROVE

Understanding our impact is essential to making relevant choices. 
JICABLE’27 will measure its carbon footprint and monitor selected indicators across travel, catering, resources, exhibition and procurement. The data collected will provide a first environmental baseline for the conference and help us identify meaningful opportunities for future editions.
